Duties

CIMA+ is currently seeking applications for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Transportation Infrastructure for our Calgary, Alberta office.  We are interested in qualified individuals with more than 15 years of progressive experience leading the design and delivery of major transportation infrastructure projects.  The successful candidate should have strong transportation project experience, superb interpersonal skills, and excel in written and verbal communication.

We are looking for a formidable individual who wants to be challenged and is ready to join a dynamic team that is rapidly expanding.  CIMA+ is a well-established, multidisciplinary, Canadian engineering firm with expanding operations in Western Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large multidisciplinary teams throughout the entire project life-cycle for major transportation infrastructure projects including urban roadways, highway interchanges, bridges, transit (LRT/BRT), intermodal yards; as well as other civil works such as site grading and stormwater management facilities
  • Oversee engineering, detailed design, tender preparation, and consultant services during construction
  • Accountable for budget, schedule and meeting the quality requirements of the Client while maintaining effective communication with the Client and stakeholders
  • Coordinate in-house support and sub consultant disciplines
  • Train and mentor less-experienced employees
  • Collaborate with other offices and sector groups
  • Lead technical report writing, including preparation of public documents
  • Lead project progress and technical meetings
  • Cost estimating
  • Risk management
  • Manage project budgets/schedules and ensure adequate staff on-hand to execute projects
  • Maintain Client liaison and meet Client requirements as per contractual agreements
  • Support business development by maintaining existing Client relationships and establishing new ones
  • Lead and/or support opportunity pursuits and preparation of proposals

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills, team spirit and a capacity for finding solutions to problems
  • A university degree in Civil Engineering, combined with a minimum of 15 years’ transportation
  • Project management experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant project management experience in Alberta
  • Licensed by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Design-build / P3 experience
  • Construction site experience
  • Familiarity with TAC design principles, as well as the relevant policies, processes and procedures of The City of Calgary and Alberta Transportation
  • Familiar with project scheduling software
  • Exceptional communication skills including a strong command of English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to travel on occasion
