Syncrude’s Operations/SSHE group is seeking a Manager, Personnel Safety.  Located in Fort McMurray, Alberta, and reporting to the Vice President, Safety, Security, Health and Environment, this role is responsible for the provision of corporate and organizational support for the effective management of the personnel safety, OH&S regulatory compliance and third party services management systems.

Key measure of performance under this role is the ongoing improvement in personnel safety, particularly in the reduction of number and severity of safety incidents.  Associated improvements in the less tangible organizational safety culture are additional parameters of performance associated with this role (e.g. diligence, skill, knowledge, and mindset).


As a successful candidate, you will have a University Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, CRSP or related discipline. You have a minimum of ten years’ experience in the Occupational Health & Safety field including in corporate health & safety roles. With practitioner knowledge of Personnel Safety discipline supported by field experience. You have a minimum of five years of supervisory experience, have demonstrated leadership skills, a critical thinker, and can influence without authority.
