The Cariboo District Team embraces innovation in a fast-paced professional work environment and is currently seeking a new member for the role of District Operations Technician in the beautiful city of Williams Lake.  The primary function of the District is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods, services and people in a given geographic area.  The operations of each District support the growth and development of the provincial economy.  District operations are a direct link between the ministry and the public/stakeholders providing a key transportation link in a multi-modal environment. 

As the District Operations Technician, you are responsible for maintaining and updating the ministry infrastructure inventory systems; assisting in the administration, overseeing and monitoring of the road and/or bridge maintenance program; ensuring work carried out by the contractors is in accordance with the contractual agreements; delivering and monitoring a variety of special projects and new initiatives that change depending on the mandate for the district office; managing ministry resources, such as the gravel pit inventories and ensuring control of assets; as well as managing the district sign program.  This is an outstanding career building opportunity for an individual who has a strong business acumen with the ability to analyze and seek solutions for complex technical and administrative issues.

Qualifications

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.  Additional training in mathematics, engineering, management principles and/or computer technology or a related Technological Diploma is an asset.
  • Data entry experience
  • Experience using MS Excel
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence
