Reporting to the Managing Director, Environmental & Engineering Services & City Engineer, the Director, Roads & Transportation provides leadership and direction to a number of specialized areas within the Roads and Transportation Division including Transportation Planning and Design, Transportation and Roadside Operations, Roadway Lighting & Traffic Control, Geomatics, and Construction Administration.  The Director, Roads & Transportation is accountable to the City Engineer for staff reports to Council and Committees for all areas within Roads and Transportation as well as the business planning and human resource management for the Division.


  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent with preference given to a relevant Master’s Degree.  
  • Qualifications as a Registered Professional Engineer, Province of Ontario, is a requirement. 
  • A Minimum of 15 years of experience  in the management and delivery of public sector programs and services, with a minimum of ten years progressively responsible experience  supervising staff.
  • Additional qualification in Business Management and completion of the Project Management Professional program are assets.
