Area Engineer - Geotechnical Roads - Kamloops

Salary $62,983.74 - $82,127.55 annually

The primary purpose of the Engineering Branch is to provide a safe resource road network which balances public, community, First Nations, commercial and industrial use. This is done in a strategic and collaborative manner through sound engineering advice, services and support to foster safe access, protection of the environment, and public safety.

As one of the Area Engineers, you will lead our roads program that includes geotechnical analysis for access planning, retaining wall design & construction, geometric road design, rock mechanics & mitigation projects, and road deactivation projects.  This position also engages directly with response to floods, fire rehabilitation and landslide investigations. Your broad-ranging expertise is a valuable asset as you participate in, or lead local and provincial project teams and resolving technical design and other project issues. A collaborative approach is crucial to this role as you successfully establish and maintain productive working relationships with a wide variety of contacts including industry, contractors, environmental agencies, stakeholders and provincial and federal professionals.

Qualifications

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Degree in Civil/Geological//Forest engineering or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
  • Must be registered, or immediately* eligible for registration as a fully licensed Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists BC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia). *Immediately means you are currently a fully licensed registered Professional Engineer member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • 5 years of recent (within the last 7 years) related engineering experience in infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
  • Field experience monitoring engineering practices and contract compliance.
