Synthesis of Transportation Asset Management Best Practices for Canada

Thursday, December 17, 2015

The report from the completed Synthesis of Transportation Asset Management Best Practices for Canada project is being prepared as a Transportation Association of Canada’s (TAC) publication.

Advanced by the Asset Management Task Force, the synthesis was developed to share information about asset management practices between Canadian transportation agencies.

Shared successes and challenges with transportation asset management may enhance practices in agencies that are more mature in asset management and will be of significant benefit to those agencies with less experience to develop asset management practices more quickly and successfully.

The synthesis consists of nine chapters and is organized according to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 55000 asset management standard. It includes information about Canadian practices, international practices as well as highlights of Canadian best practices.

Agencies will find that the synthesis provides information about transportation asset management practices from others who share similar funding, climatic, and economic constraints which may differ from agencies in other countries. The synthesis is intended to assist agencies in developing an asset management plan, as well as to identify gaps and deficiencies for continued improvements.

Once the publication is completed, it will be available for sale through TAC’s Bookstore.
