Young Transportation Professional Award

Subject Area and Award Eligibility

Awarded annually, the TAC Young Transportation Professional Award recognizes an employee of a TAC member organization who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments as a young professional in the transportation industry. Nominees must be no older than 35 as of December 31 in the year the award is presented.

Nomination Requirements

A representative of any TAC member may make a nomination by submitting a nomination form by March 3, 2017, accompanied by a nominee profile. The profile should describe the person being nominated and how the person meets each of the criteria described below, using specific examples whenever possible. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Review Procedures and Evaluation Criteria

A selection committee appointed by TAC's councils evaluates all submissions and provides a recommendation for the most suitable nominee. Nominations are ratified by the Board.
Eligible nominees will be judged according to the criteria described below. The selection committee will rank candidates based on each criterion using weighting factors determined by the selection committee. The selection committee reserves the right to modify the judging criteria and not to recommend a nominee in any given year. 

Criteria

  • Professional accomplishments (e.g., outstanding achievements in transportation practice, evidence of continuing formal or informal professional development and education, significant career advancement, outstanding contributions to their own firm/agency/institution)
  • Industry contributions and advancement of the transportation profession (e.g., contributions, memberships, achievements in TAC and other professional/technical societies)
  • Leadership (e.g., leadership within their own firm/agency/institution, within TAC or other professional/technical societies)

The winner will be contacted by July 1st of the year in which the award will be conferred. The award will be presented at the annual TAC Conference and Exhibition, and will include a travel stipend of up to $2,000 to offset the costs of travel to the conference.
