2017 Scholarship Program Open for Applications

Thursday, November 17, 2016

The Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2017 Scholarship Program.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, February 28.

The scholarship program supports and encourages bright, young college and university (undergraduate and graduate) students pursuing studies and a career in transportation, in particular in the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and program management of transportation infrastructure, including urban transit.

Since the TAC Foundation began awarding scholarships in 2005, a total of 451 scholarships valuing $1,824,000 have been provided. Last year, 41 scholarships valued at $157,500 were awarded in total, 31 of which were through the Foundation’s internally-administered program. The other ten scholarships were awarded to students at the University of Windsor and McMaster University, thanks to a partnership with the Norman Esch Foundation.

The review of the applications is coordinated by the TAC Foundation’s Scholarship Chair, Dr. Luis Amador of Concordia University. Dr. Amador enlists the help of dozens of volunteer reviewers to evaluate and score all qualifying applications. The highest ranking applicants in the college, undergraduate and graduate categories are named as finalists in June; recipients are announced in July.

More than 30 scholarships valued at over $130,000 are expected to be available in 2017.
